Belfast Lough Macks Sun 5/6/11

Kayak:Prowler Elite

Tide:Flooding HW 1408

Weather:Showers, Easterly F3-4

Bait:Feathers

Rigs: 4 hook feathers

Results: Approx 40 Mackerel

Headed out from Cultra at about 1100. Weather was pretty crap with an Easterly Force 3-4. Headed out past the moorings and the fishfinder was pretty quiet until I reset the range from narrow to wide  It immediately started chirping and I found a good wee drift which I basically stuck at until I went in around 1430. The mack didn't appear in the Lough until late July/August last year so was a bit surprised to hear thay had been caught in that area the last two days off a Club boat  I landed around 40 odd fish but unsurprisingly they were mostly under half a pound so went back in
I kept 4 of the better ones (best 10ozs) for bait for next weekend
A good few hours sport and looking forward to getting the odd sunny evening at them and the Mullet when they appear in better numbers..........
