Co. Wicklow 01/06/2011

#1 Post by dfella25 »

People:Gordy, Bren "The Bomber" Canning and myself.

Duration:5pm until 10pm

Tide:HT@9:30pm

Weather:Sunny dry with a steady SW wind.

Bait:Rag, crab & mac

Rigs:Flappers

Results:Puppy Smoothie each and a few flats.

Report:We hatched plan for a mid week session before the long weekend and headed south to Wicklow. Reports have not been great around so the idea was to stop off where we might get a few fish and a possible Smoothie. This wasn't to be the case as things were very slow. Bren was first up with a flounder to mac and then a good hour later landed a second. Gordy then picked up a nice dab in the 20's followed by a pup smut in close on rag. His first of the year I might add!

A couple of hours passed and I eventually managed a flounder about 80 yards out on rag. Plus lifting the dreaded Gordy gloat all the way home if I had blanked. Then I picked up a little pup in close on rag and thankfully matched Gordy's tally.

At HT we decided to call it a day as it was very quiet and I think we'd all had enough. Bren then managed a puppy himself on his last cast. This left him the clear winner on the day by 1 fish. All in all not alot to jump up and down about but at least they are starting to show and please God by the end of the month there will be some decent sized ones about.

i think thats a very ageist comment you should realize when one is in their twilight years you have to allow for things like feeling the cold more and not remembering as well as before youngsters like us have to be kind to the elderly (even if he is a pain in the neck)
