Co, Sligo Rock Mark The 10th & 17th of May 2011

#1 Post by FisherKing »

People:Myself

Duration:One hour each day

Tide:Filling

Weather:Wet & Windy

Bait:Spinner & Limpet

Rigs:One hook

Results: One Ballan Wrasse & Two Pollock

Report:

The windy weather has put an end to the lure fishing for the past few weeks but luckly it died off enough to fit in a couple of hours on the 10th & 17th.

10th
Started of spinning but after the fourth or fifth cast the wind picked up blowing the line all over the place & it was a waste of time after that so plan B was to try for a Wrasse or two  prized of a few Limpets & baited up. Dropped the bait down just under my feet & felt a nice wee pluck i waited for the thrid pluck then struck & hooked my first Wrasse of the year which give a great scrap for the size her 8) just over the 1 lb mark not a very big one but still great to see them making a return to this area but sadley no more showed up so called it a day.

17th
The wind had died down enough for quick spinning session, So I sneaked of work for an hour & headed to the nearest rock mark & was soon fishing :D it was slow for the first thirty minutes but then the Pollock came on the feed, landed two fish with the best just over 3.5lb, lost another few better fish due to the sweels that were running & weed that was everywhere  but was great to be back out again, although by the looks of it weather wise it could be a while again  !!!

Nice one Brian, your first Wrasse of the year, you must be well pleased 8) You sure are at home on the rocks, well done on the pollock too. Let's hope the bad weather we're having settles down soon, espicially the wind, it's a right pain at the minute making conditions for fishing very difficult if not impossible. Good report and photo's mate.
