local beach, galway 24 may

#1 Post by corbyeire »

People: myself and vinny

Duration: 8.30- 12 midnight

Tide: high 23.30

Weather: windy, couple of showers

Bait: lug mack squid sandeel

Rigs: 2 hook clipped down, flappers

Results: 2 flounders 1 coalie

Report: collected vinny and headed to the beach - over the first hour had a bit of fun with walkers not controlling their dogs - running into our line - clearly hearing us and ignoring us - then letting the mutts off again to do the same thing - at which point i was swearing

i was looking to the car park with all sorts of idea on my mind and i could see shane had pulled up and he had rods out - at this stage the cocky walkers seemed to see sense and gather their dogs on leads and head to the car park

the weed after the blow wasnt too bad at all - only up at the weed line from the previous tide

i had been lamping one out and then had to track in about 150 metres as the tide filled in around us - i brought it in on the shingle and there was a flounder 26 on mack and squid

about 30 mins later with the dusk - vinney then had a good knock - as it turned out it was the pull of the second hook in this flounder 28

thought we were going to be in for a bit of fishing now in the gulley at the HW but it was not to be

as vinny and I were leaving shane pulled out a coalie right at his feet - only seen 1 before here at distance

he was saying there was a few flounder about 2 weeks ago here also

great to be home again in 5 mins :D

i had a good look at accuweather and the only window for a few days was last night - the white horses are all over the place again today and it will take days for the weed to die down

If the bye-laws are the same as Clare those dog walkers are not allowed to have the dogs running free at this time of year. They dont like being told though, I have had my parentage questioned on several occasions, I guess my accent rubs them up the wrong way. :D I had a woman give me back a handful of chewed tinfoil when her dog stole my sandwiches and another dogwalker blame me when her dog stole a baited trace out of my bucket. Then there are those whos idea of walking the dog is pulling up to the beach and opening the car door. I know that there are responsible dog owners out there, I just don't meet them very often.
The Truth is often stumbled upon by men, most of whom pick themselves up and hurry along as if nothing ever happened.

baitdigger the byelaws are the same, dogs on a leash at all times and not at all between certain times of the day for the summer months

but as you said - your in the wrong if their mutt goes and hooks himself in their eyes
