Best lure for gilling for pollock/cod

wondering which lure you guys use for gilling for pollock/cod. Not sure if the term 'gilling' is universal,if it isnt, gilling is using a boom with a weight on it and a lure coming from the book. you drop the line until it hits the bottom then reel it up slowly. i use a black and red rubber sandeel with a rag work on the hook. what are other peoples techniques for this. interested to hear what works for other people.

quick update, was thinking of making a form of wishbone gilling rig, with a thin tube to keep the lures about a foot apart and staggered in height to avoid tangles.anyone ever tried this.

Have a look at dropshotting it's all the rage in the states and works really well.
You tube has loads of videos on the subject.

A spreader bar would probably be better for fishing two lures side by side. I like to use large jelly worms with long tails when gilling. Simple and proven and still works well. I prefer darker colored lures when fishing deep. Sidewinder sand eels are good too but they tend to tangle if not dropped very slowly through the water.

Forget about the rubber eel and use the rag on its own, or use a belly strip of Mack.
Dont confuss the issue by trying to fish multiple hooks at various levels.

If you are comp fishing and want to use multiple hooks just tie two or three in line, ie all on your flowing trace, using a blood loop.
