North Wexford, beaches, 7th May 2011

#1 Post by John D »

People:Mise.

Duration:10:45 until 15:25.

Tide:High @ approx. 12:45 & neap.

Weather:Dull, showery, mild, light to moderate S/SE breeze, fair to good water clarity, small waves.

Bait:rag, lug, frozen peeler crab.

Rigs:2 hook paternoster with a 4 oz. bomb then changed to a 5 oz. grip.

Results:1 flounder.

Report:I tried a couple of beaches North of Donaghmore & South of Ballymoney but all that showed up for me was a small solitary flounder, but I suppose it saved a blank. I wasn't expecting the water clarity to be as good as it was but I still brought my spinning rod & a couple of lures just encase. I had a few chucks at a rocky mark but nothing showed any interest. Suspended weed was a tad bit annoying!

Tight lines,
John D.

definately night beaches, and i never had hassle fishing them on my own very quiet beaches with maybe only a few other fishermen to share beach with, so dont be too worried bout fishing them on your own worse part i found was making it back to dublin at six in morning without falling asleep, did well to beat the blank well done

Nice one Mick.

I'm from Clondalkin, I'm street wise & I believe I can fairly handle myself but I don't know what it is about being on my own on a beach at night it just gives me the heebee jeebees. It's all them weird noises coming from all directions. I just can't relax!!??

haha, i hear where you are coming from. i have fished a couple of times on my own at night now and the first time was the worst. after that you begin to wise up a bit and can start to relax... then even enjoy it! keep at it i reckon.

just watch out for the bogey man..

one flounder better than 0 flounder :)

You should go fishing with Fishface one night,,,,,,,,After a few of his jokes and stories and a blast in the eyes from his headlamp a night on the beach alone wont seem so bad

That head lamp in the eyes trick drives me crazy. Can't see anything for about 10 minutes afterwards. Then just as your eyes start to adjust to the darkness you get another blast of it. I'm gonna have to wear my sunglasses and headlamp in future.
