shimano 4000 fixed spool reel

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

shimano 4000 fixed spool reel

#1 Post by ventry boy »

I bought a Shimano 4000 spinning reel a couple of months ago and have a problem casting with it.
Every now and then the bale arm flicks over in the cast and when using 10 quid plus lures etc it is not funny. I have had shimano bait runners before and had no problem, I am left handed but this shouldn't make any difference.
Anybody suffered similar with this reel ? Maybe it's a bad one and I should just take it back

Which model of Shimano? Both my Exage and Nevage in 4000 size are flawless in that respect.

Could it be your casting style....Have you got this problem with any other make/model?

Otherwise, take it back. Any half decent tackle shop will look after its customers.

the same happens to me with my biomaster 8000, you have to push the bail arm over the full way and it doesnt sometimes and click in halfway through the cast so its annoying when your in a comp and it snaps your line.
