An Curraun, Mayo

#1 Post by Woody »

Was on holiday in Mulranny. Fished Curraun a few times during the week.
Place was stuffed with mackeral.
Best result was a 3 1/2lb bass who fought like a demon - caught while spinning a wedge on first hour of the ebb.
Just for anyone who is interested I was snorkelling out on Keem beach on Achill and saw loads of triggerfish. Also the biggest and most beautifully coloured rockfish I have ever seen. Great place to snorkel - fish everywhere and the water is crystal clear.
Entries now open for the Henry's Tackle Shop All Ireland Shore Smooth Hound Championships on July 18h hosted by Sea Angling Ireland SAC

Any idea how long the Triggerfish hang about?
I'm off work in Sept. and want to catch one.

Woody,

Where exactly did you see them, to the north (towards Dooagh) or south of Keem bay?

Bill,

I reckon they will be around until the water gets too cold for them and as the sea is a couple of months being land temp they should be around until at least October, my guess anyway.

Looking out to sea - they were on the right side - roughly 150yds out.
I've no idea how long they stay around.
