Strangford Sea Trout

#1 Post by colin c »

People:Me

Date :8th April

Venue:

Duration:1 1/2hours

Tide:on the rise

Weather:fine

Bait:spinning

Rigs:

Results:5lb 3oz sea trout

Finished work and had the rod and waders in the car so headed off to Strangford to give the sea trout a go.Have had a few this season but nothing over 2lb.Got to the mark, quickly set up and got into the water.First cast about half way down the retrieve i seen a bit of a splash behind the spinner so recast in the direction of the splash and bang fish on.This chap put up one hell of a fight on the spinning rod.Got him landed, weighed and photographed.Unfortunately the fish had taken the spinner down well and I spent the next hour in the water with the fish trying to help it recover but it wasnt to be :( and that was the session over.Packed up and headed for home.

Great fish mate, well done. I think the blood in the photo shows there was not much hope of saving the fish.
