Donaghadee Harbour 06/04/11

#1 Post by Drew »

People: Dan, Shep, Drew

Duration: 7pm - 10pm

Tide: Pushing

Weather: Shower, Bit windy, but really mild!

Bait: Lugworms and Mackeral

Rigs: Loops, Flappers

Results:
Serveral small Pollack, A few Coalies, and what we believe to be a Donaghadee PLAICE

Report:

Down to the Dee for an uneventful few hours, Didn't get onto the rails til 8pm, but in the meantime Dan managed a wee Plaice over the back wall! Well, checked for the bumps behind the head, present and correct, bright orange spots were there, so if I'm right Id think it was a plaice! :? Result! (Someone correct me if I'm wrong!) The other folks at the rails cleared off and proper fishing began in earnest. Well, saying that, it was dead slow and stop most of the night, fishing down the side for species only yielded a few Pollack and a Coalfish, while the loop in the middle did the trick with a couple of Coalies.
Just a typical night on the Dee with a little surprise thrown in.

picture is'nt the sharpest drew, but i'd be inclined to go with plaice too :) well done that man :D :D . never fails to amaze me just what turns up at that mark from time to time. if memory serves me correct, thats cuckoo wrasse, haddock and now plaice to add to your list of unusual catches from there in the last 12 months. nice one!

Yeah man, there's been plenty of weird stuff off it in my time mind!
I've seen Gurnards, Forkbeard, Haddock, Cuckoos, Plaice, a Tompot, to name but a few, it's amazing the variety you can pick up here, especially since its North Down! lol
