purchased a nice 9' ugly stik spinning rod at the local tackle shop and decided to head to a rock mark to try for pollack.
arrived at the mark at low water and the weather was great so started spinning. was keen to see how far i could cast with the new rod but just as i was watched for the spinner, then saw it hit the water (about 180yards out
so anyway, i fished for an hour and a half from various points along the rocks, at all depths and at all retrieval speeds, (lost 2 spinners = average) but not even a touch. so gave up and headed to a pier to bait fish.
after a burger i fished the pier for over an hour but there seemed only to be a shoal of very small coley about. i managed to save the blank but the fishing was poor. at one stage a small car turned up and a belfast man and his 4sons fell out of it. they fished for a bit but didnt catch anything. then the da came up and had a chat. i caught one of the wee coley while we were chatting and he immediately asked for it.
"go on gis that, the wee man would love to keep that like. sure i'll take it home and feed it til the ferret" were his words!
i told him he could do what he wanted with it.
thats about it. poor fishin, didnt bother with any photos sorry.
