Kerry 25/March/2011

#1 Post by Boilermaker1 »

People:Me

Duration:2 hours

Tide:low water

Weather:Beautiful

Bait:Limpet

Rigs:single hook

Results:1 Ballan wrasse

Beautiful day here in Kerry. deceided to get out in the fresh air for a while, so went to a rock mark to try for a Ballan Wrasse. this is very simple fishing, short rod, 15lb line, single hook and plain 4oz lead. knock a limpet off the rocks, put him on the hook and drop line straight down, no casting, depth of water about 15 foot .. first drop rewarded with a nice fish of about 2lbs..the power of these fish when they dives is great, got some bites in later drops but did not hook any..had to move when filling tide was getting too close for comfort,

Nice early Wrasse well done 8) I find that's the best way to fish for them & the Limpet is a great handy bait, hopefully they will be moving back to the rock marks up here soon although its usually around late April/May before they back in any numbers, cant wait one of the best fighting fish we have 8)
Cheers Brian

Well done Boilermaker1.
No bull manure there.
Just straight in, no messing about and zap. Fish on.
Simplicity is the way to go.
