I was down in north Clare for the weekend { trying to learn to surf/body boarding}. It was ffffffreezing cold and i only lasted a hour. . When my fingers went blue i decided i had enough. . so we headed for the pub to watch the match.{well done Ireland}. and a session started. This morning since i had the gear with me and i had the bait too i went to a small beach that was empty.the tide was just turned and coming fast and there was a lot of weed in the small bit of surf .With the flattie rod out i sent the big rod out far.With in 10 min the near rod twitched and a small flattie saved the blank. the other rod was not getting any attention and i rebaited again and sent it out to the surf line. About a hour later another flattie came in on the near rod and while i was unhooking it the rod at distance gave a massive nod and a rattle. . and what ever it was shredded the bait {sandeel} and it will be the one that got away. . it went very quite for the last while so it was time to go. but ill be back for another go on this beach. .

HI boilermaker1 it had the signs of a bass attack it made bits of the bait so it could well of been a bass ill get him next time. .

Thanks for the replies lads. .it was a nice few hours fishing. and as for the surfing, ill have to be careful what beach I'm on...{ in case noel wants some lead weight target practice}... ...
