West Cork Beach 13/03/2011

#1 Post by thescotsman »

People: Davis Angling Models AKA me and Nik

Duration: 19:00-22.30

Tide: HW about 22.30

Weather: slightest northerly breeze

Bait: razor all the way

Rigs: 2 hook flappers and pulleys

Results: 1 cod, 1 coalie and a couple of crab

Report:

I see there are not many Cork reports recently, so thought I'd throw one up. Not much to tell though  . Slack tides, no sea movement, not a lot of action on our rods, baits being stripped, crab being landed.

To try and combat the crab menace we fished big razor baits well tied on with elastic, but wasn't enough as for the most part our baits were stripped within 15 minutes or less. We managed a small fish each towards the end, with a risky small bait closer in. I was very impressed by the crab I landed as he came in from a good distance with only his determination to hold on to my bait keeping him attached...

Conditions not great for that beach - but nice to get out as haven't been out for a couple of weeks - so with blank saved we headed off for chips.

Might try East Cork instead this week, now I have my new reel from Henry's to be broken in

yes, blank saved and a nice night are the best I can take out of it. 3 months since I was down there last. Still my favourite though. I'll give it a go with the bigger tides next week.

A couple of fish is better than a blank.
I haven't been fishing for about three weeks (one of the reasons for the lack of Cork reports!!!) but with the big tides at the weekend I must get out too.
