buncrana pier

#1 Post by MC »

People:just me

Date :6th/7th march 20011

Venue:buncrana pier

Duration: 11pm to 2.30am

Tide: dropping to low water and one hour up

Weather:not bad a chilly wind but nice for the time of year

Bait:freezer stuff, just bluey and sandeel (all there was in there)

Rigs:pulleys and 2 hook boom

Results: S.F.A managed to land a small crab

Report: with the wee man going into hospital for an operation on tuesday I needed to clear the head and when the ucc meet was cancelled due to the field no longer usable (so we are looking for a new venue and if you know of one pm me Lee or Jonny please) so grabed a rod, reel and some bits of tackle and raided the freezer. Didnt get much from the freezer but still looking forward to wetting my first line this year.Anyway headed off to the venue and got set up and cast out, looked like long range casts where the order of the night and i managed to time the low water and it was low with a few feet of water around the pier. Baits came back mangled by crabs or not at all, didnt get a bite all night and as i wound in the last cast of the night there was a small crab refusing to let the bait go, dont worry he was carefully unhooked and returned to steal bait another day. Not much to take photos of and didnt land any fish but at least i got a few hours fishing in complete peace.

Only problem is now i want to get out again
