4/3/11 nice pollack.

Had a quick throw with a spinner this evening after work, the tide was low, full out but managed one pollack at exactly 1.5lb. I think I fished for about 45 mins and that was the only take I got. They should start appearing in better numbers and bigger ones in the coming weeks and months.

2013 Sea Species:- Bass, Flounder, 5 Beard Rockling, Shore Rockling, Whiting, red gurnard, grey gurnard, Pollack, coley, mackerel, sea trout, cant remember cos I didn't update at the time.....
2012 Sea species:- Pollack, Coley, Mackerel, Cod, Bass, Sea Trout, Haddock, Plaice, Dab, Flounder, Red Gurnard, Grey Gurnard, Pouting, Whiting, Corkwing Wrasse, Ballan Wrasse, Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Brown Trout caught on beach.
2011 Sea species:- codling, L.S. dogfish, coley, whiting, pollack(4lb 3oz), sea trout, shore conger eel (15lb), ballan wrasse, grey gurnard, plaice, dab (and lobster).

nice fish cathal, the pollack are cool on your side of the country, may have to look around here for some deep water rock mark. :wink:

Hi southaussie, Bound to be somewhere to try for pollack in your neck of the woods. Strangely though, I was fishing the beach at Brittas bay in late October and I asked a local fella called Sean (didnt get the surname, he's into kayak fishing) about pollack fishing at Mizen head to the south of the beach and he said you dont get pollack there? I thought that a bit odd as it looks the part but I havent fished it and he probably knows far better than me.

Are there really rock marks on the Irish coast where you dont get pollack?

Yeah Fisherking theyre a great fish to get on lure or fly, hard to beat. Sligo/Mayo bound to have some great pollack marks?

Nice fish , they give an incredible unexpected thump, they feel a lot bigger til you see them.
