Good stuff. I like the "However, this needs to be coupled with catch limits that follow scientific advice based on the precautionary principle, and effective monitoring and control," she told BBC News. part. Seems shes done her homework.John D wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-12598660

Yeah me too. I think the key word is 'precautionary'!

i remember the suggestion of cctv cameras being used on deck to monitor what goes on re disgards being raised before. almost all the fishermen came up with flimsy lame excuses as to why they did'nt want it. but not one of the wanted to mention the real reason about how it would hinder the pratice of high grading, a pratice commonplace throughout the industry they don't want us to know about or the greater public to be aware of
you don't see them crying their eyes out about dumping dead fish back into the sea when there's a prophit to be made

Excellent point AlandJordan!
I have only recently come to learn what high grading is myself and it also flies in the face of the message that 'Hugh's Fish Fight' is trying to convey. Although on that subject I do agree that changing the public's fish eating habits is a good thing.
Tight lines,
John D.
