Report: Friend of mine has been asking me to take him on a session for ages so i had already planned to fish Youghal on Saturday so brought Joe along for his first proper session with codling in mind. Set off early from Limerick first was in Charleville for a cuppa and a few chicken pieces and diesel had a friendly agrument with joe over who was paying for the cuppas, it was only when we landed in Youghal and the boss rang me to say that i had not paid for the fuel in Charleville D'OH, quickly got that problem sorted and moved on to the fishing side ... Had a look at a couple of marks and spoke with Ultegra off the site but there was a fair wind blowing up through Youghal so we found a mark that had some bit of shelter Started to set up so got Joe set up first as this was his first time out aside from Mackerel fishing, rigged up and baited i set him loose on the fish of Youghal, then quickly got myself set up and out, when i heard joe asking 'is that a bite', with that up popped Joe's first ever Codling far from a monster it was but Joe was delighted. Got him baited up and out again and with in 5 mins i heard, i think i have another one Low and behold another wee codling popped up for Joe, great to help someone but give me a fish At last i saw a rattle on one of my rods, picked up the rod and SSSSNNNNNAAAAAPPPPPPPPPP after this snap off i had a wee rant to myself for a few minutes and got on another leader and rig and out again just in time to see Joe reel in his 3rd ever codling At about 6 the rain started and the wind really picked up making bite detection a b@£$h but there was no way i was giving in Joe then went to pull in 4 more baby codling oh did i take some amount of abuse off Joe on this one when finally i saw a good rattle on my rod set with a pennel, next minute the rod bent over started into the fish and it felt like a good one when as it got to the wall bang it just took off this was really not my night , but got rebaited and out agin when after about 10 minutes got another good rattle after a few minutes up popped a lovely 2 lber snity and pride saved then i got a wee run with a 1lber and a few smallies falling to peeler crab. The weather had really turned pear shped at this stage so we gave it about half an hour of driving rain and called it a night, delighted for Joe on his first session but even more delighted on saving my own pride on this one Met up at the end of the sesion with Seanie35 off the site , good to meet you seanie
