Fishing Fahan

#1 Post by scara »

I'm thinking off fishing Fahan.
I seen in the report section the guys where fishing the beach.
Is this the right hand side of the marina?
Are you far up from the marina? any information on distance out and best time of tide would be appreciated.
I am planning to fish from about two hours before low tide right through to the 1st hour of fill using fresh mackeral and sandeel.
I'm hoping to catch a thornback.

All help welcomed.

if fishing around low water a simple cast with 3 hook flapper into the channel anywhere should lift your rays, just vary your distance until you find them, youve got the baits spot on anyway! fish even up to 3hrs of the fill if you can tho, the rays can feed well with a bit of tide pushing through it.take heavy grip leads just incase, i sometimes use 7 oz or 6oz gemini with uptide insert.

Yeah the channel is where you want to be fishing. Fish the beach to the right of the marina, you'll see the elbow of the beach a fwe hundred yards up is the easiest place to get to the channel.

Fresh mackeral on it's own seems to outfish anything.

Thanks for the info.
I went up last night with a rod for a look. I see what you mean about the channel. it was just about beoynd my cast last night with the tide so far in.
But I think i give it a proper blast later in the week. Also briing the heavy guns with me so i'll be able to hit the channel easier as the tide comes in.

Plenty of conger being caught of the pier just drop a flapper in to the left of the pier and the conger are there. going to head to fahan this evening for a bash, as long as I get away from work on time.

Irish_shamrock if your thinking of soming to Culdaff for the conger let me know and i'll call down for a chat. nice to put a face to the name.

It's a toss-up between Culdaff or Teelin this Saturday, but I'll send ye a wee PM during the week.
