Report: after falling foul to the nuisance that is ceramic rod rings at the weekend a gust of wind had me needing a repair on my salt long surf rod
. so a trip to bangor to see robin in trap and tackle was in order. thankfully there was some broken rag beyond my life support saving capabilitys from the weekend needing to be used up, so the trip would'nt be a total loss 
. so i reckoned it was time to get the species list up and running with a bash at the wee fellas living between the boulders in the breakwater. it was pretty quiet thow. i chucked out 2 rods with 3 hook flappers beyond the kelp beds with no joy while mucking about with the minis between the rocks. i only had 2 takers in the session which i think (to be honest) was the same fish who never lernt his lesson from the first hook up and snaffled my bait twice 
. as the tide was coming in i decided to give the pier a chuck and upped sticks and moved over. 30 mins later i decided to wrap it up and scoot round to donaghadee as all i managed to catch was poor oul spongebob's mate patrick 
. so with my rod left in for repair i arrived at donaghadee harbour to see a bit of a commotion unfold in front of me. there was an ambulance and cardiac car on the pier and half the town out watching. i got to the end of the pier and looked over the wall to see the bangor ILB and donaghadee lifeboat over at a bigger vessel about a mile SE of the copeland islands. the ILB came racing back in with 2 very sheepish looking canoers (with thier canoes aboard) who thankfully were unharmed. seemed to be quite a big operation thow and it really brings home the time and effort the brave men & women of the RNLI give freely to keep all seafarers safe around our coasts. so with the excitement over i fished 2 rods with 3 hook flappers in the hope of something having a nibble during daylight hours. but sadly it was'nt ment to be as i blanked . but sure it can happen to the best of us i suppose . but it was still nice to get out for the afternoon anyway even if the fishing was poor
