bray harbour 27-1-11

People:me

Duration:4.30 till 7

Tide:full at 7

Weather:cold ,easterly
Bait:lug and squid

Rigs:3 hook

Results: 4whiting,2 flounder and 10 rockling and 1 coalie




Report:drove down the harbour and sat fishing out of the back of the inca the wind was alot colder than my last trip ,was expecting a few codling to show but no takers :cry: the sea was quite big,but no weed thank god ,most fish after dark nothing big most in or around 20 cm still better than haulin weed for the whole session,the rescue helicopter was over bray head up near the cross, up to what i can only guess??

2011 species (16) - Flounder, Coalies, Pollock, sand eel, Wrasse, Sea Trout, dogfish, thornback ray, Whiting, Red Gurnard, Codling, Grey gurnard, pouting, Mackeral, Turbot, Plaice

targets for 2011 - Bass, sea trout and big cod! - Scratch one! Sea Trout Down!

that blob over the headland is the rescue helecopter one of the big mothers ,unfortunatly my fishing camera is only 2 mill pix and has a crappy zoom ,that and low light didnt help :roll:

Would have thought the beaches would have thrown up a few cod yesterday havent even caught one whiting myself :x .That chopper is savage you can hear the thing from miles away

still good to get a few fish roger :D the helicopter landed in the field behind arklow south beach a year or so ago they were training and even let the lads climb inside, massive thing kids were chuffed, the rockling are in force everywhere winter doggies :wink: , shame they stink

Species 2012:

Cod, Whiting, flounder, coalfish, bass, pollack, sea trout, poor cod, pouting, dogfish, sea scorpion, 3 bearded rockling, blonde ray, painted ray, turbot.

Hi there,
Was doing a bit of fishing down south over the weekend.
On low tide in the dark myself and my mate caught a few small, what looked like
codling. My fish looked slightly different however.

You might be able to help
Very like your first photo - dorsal fin all down back, light brown in colour, very small eyes more to the top of the head. caught in sandy area on lug.

Perhaps it was a codling but would like to be sure. No pic as it was returned quickly.

Any ideas
