Waterford 22/Jan

#1 Post by dfella25 »

People:Gordy and myself

Duration:2pm until 8pm

Tide:HT 8:12PM

Weather:Dry, sunny but very very cold later on.

Bait:Lug and crab

Rigs:Pulley's

Results:Codling and flounder.

Report: I woke up on Saturday morning to my phone buzzing with texts. Gordy wanted to know was I ready yet. The usual hour before we were due to leave! After a session of different sorts the night before I loaded myself with 3 coffee's and was ready. Well sort of, the crabs I'd stuck in the freezer last week turned out to be newspaper and rubbish the container. Oh and my tackle box was stinking!

We headed off and it wasn't long before I needed a pit stop to drain the coffee. Gordy thinking it was an excuse for a smoke kept driving. Eventually my pleas were listened to and boy was I relieved!

My Pit Stop

We carried on and on arriving to Waterford we stopped at the Angling & Outdoor Centre for crab. Great shop and had loads of gear for us to pine over. Bait now sorted we headed off to fish. We set up shop at the mark and spent 20 mins cleaning up rubbish all around us. All rig packets. We cast out but it was very slow for about two hours with neither of us getting a bite. We were kept busy with a little friend that had his eye on our worms.

Then as dusk fell the fish came on the feed. Joined at this stage with about 20 other anglers everyone was busy pulling out fish. All codling and small with the odd flounder. Gordy then got a big knock and reeled in a decent fish. Then he had another on the next cast. All the time I was not getting anything over 35cms. Just on the high water the fishing stopped and others were packing up. We3 decided to call it a night and headed again for Super Macs. Then as we left for Dublin I started to doze off. Poor Gordy drove all the way through the worst fog ever while I snored my head off.

Great report Conor, nice photo of the "Pit" stop, especially as I presume it was taken with only one hand, the other being busy at the time  . Did you have any luck with the newspaper and rubbish :?:

Thanks Al. There were plenty of gulls but they were not as brave.

Left the Newspaper in the Council bin across the road at the park. Along with the smelly bait. I love getting one up on those council boys
