Report:We decided to head back to the beach that had produced for us last week in the hope that lightning would strike twice

.I got there an hour earlier than Fishface as he had sneakily arrived before us last week

. This was a good move on my part. I was talking to a couple of anglers as they left and they told me that the Dabs were coming on the feed, how right they were

My first cast produced a double and i ended up with 12 Dabs , in all , most around the mid twenties cms. I set up the second rod and had only sat down when it got a good thump of a bite. Reeling it in , i had to walk down the beach a bit as there was a good run to the left, and I saw it was a half decent fish. In truth, as I lifted it out I thought I had a Bass, but it was in fact a codling of 41cms, happy days, and my second decent one ever.

When Fishface arrived I gave him the happy news that I had 5x Dabs and a decent codling

He was delighted,,, I think

. I had made a bait tray out of a cat litter tray and connected it to my tripod using snap on clips and velcro and it worked a treat,,,and all for €3-50. It saved my back as I was able to sit on my stool for a change instead of using it for a bait tray

.Neil wasnt having his best day but came up trumps with a double of pin whiting. I wasnt letting him away with that so I was soon targeting and catching pin whiting as well.

When the moon came out we could see how calm it was and we were giving up hope of any stray bass

We stayed on till 10-30pm , both ending up with doubles of flatties, me double dabs, and Neil getting flounder and Dab. Nice way to end the night.
