Duration:5 till 7

Tide:rising

Weather:bitter cold

Bait:peeler

Rigs: 4/0 pennel

Results:4 codling




Report:went down to youghal for a cast had a look at the carpets first then moved to another mark, slow going lots of weed hard to hold bottom eventually the tide slackened enough to hold bottom and hey presto bite got 4 in the end biggest about 4.5lb
slow session overall then bites picked up but the family were waiting for their "chipper" so had to go :lol:

think it was conditions brian i always find the neap tides better plus still alot of freshwater coming down the blackwater should be improving all the time for next week :wink:

4 codling for a two hr session thats nice fishing sean ,you need a nights fishing on
the east coast ,then you would know what slow session is like :lol:

good going seanie lovely codling, is the one in the photo the biggest, caught one 57cm in youghal night before last havent a clue what weight he was but he wasnt far off that one, ye have by far the best of the shore fishing down there at the moment :mrgreen: good to see you making the best of it.

Fair play Seanie.some nice size codling you have there ,the cod must be still in youghal in good numbers 8)

57cm is a great fish mick some variations in size with cod though some are as round as they are long yours mustve been 6lb anyways 8)

true we are blessed down here, had many a night freezing my nads off on dublin beaches for nothing

Well done Seanie, the 4.5 pounder is a nice fish.
I should have tried fishing around the harbour at the weekend - I didn't because of the big tides, went to the Abbey instead and just got 4 or 5 small codling, only one worth keeping.

mixed results for youghal frank went back last night just got 1 small fish its hit and miss at the moment :o
