People:Mark n myself
Duration:3 hrs
Tide:rising
Weather:good but cold
Bait:lug and peeler
Rigs:pennell n 2 n 3 hook flappers
Results:between us about 12 codling.. 9 r 10 coalie n a spurdog
Report:we arrived at the mark around 4.30 with the tide rising.. n when i say rising i mean ripping in.. we found it difficult to get the lead to grip.. despite this we started gettin bites.. i caught the first codling of the night(i think) n they came fairly steadily after that until the tide was high n it quitened down then.. we got a couple of nice coalie n mark got the spurdog which was a new species for him.. a good nights fishing until the cold got the better of us.. more layers next time

cracking result for 3 hours lads
. you must have been made up with the spurdog
. it's brilliant when something unexpected comes along like that

i was not sure what the fish was, there was a lad talking to us on the the pier that identified it as a spurdog, checked it out later on the net and compared it to pics, it seems it was a small spurdog, it was like a small tope with spines on the back of it

nothing would surprise me man. we had 6 bass in one session off a co antrim beach in december and the temp was -5 with the sand frozen under our feet
. even had a ballan wrasse in december in co down and a mackerel from the shore from the same spot in january
. you just never know whats gonna turn up where in the sea. one of the great appeals of sea fishing
