Report: With the forecast fowl and confusion if it was on or off three Northsiders saddled up and headed south. The trip down to Waterford was great on the new road and we were there in just over two hours. We checked out a couple of marks first looking for best cover from the wind. All were fine but when we got to Passage the beach was sheltered great and there was no wind at all. A quick ring around and we discovered we were the only ones to have travelled. So we agreed a pool of a fiver for biggest fish and set about getting the rods out.
Straight off the fishing was great with a codling a cast to everyone. Bren soon landed a sweet fat codling about 3lb's which put him in front. We continued on getting fish with bites as soon as the bait hit the water. The problem was trying to get the baits in without the smaller fish getting hooked so quick. Size 4/0's were easily taken by fish about 20cm's. It wasn't long before Bren caught another decent fish just over the 5lb mark, and then followed by the fattest Dab we had ever seen. It was just over 40cm's and was a beaut.
Gordy and myself were playing catch up now and were getting a few nice fat fish when the fishing began to die off. It went very quiet for the last couple of hours so we decided to pack up. We paid Bren his deserved winnings and headed for SuperMacs.
Only took one pic of Bren's first fish. Nice to be that busy
