People:me

Duration:8 till 11.30

Tide:rising

Weather:bit of rain/wind

Bait:frozen peeler

Rigs:4/0 pennel

Results:9 codling

Report:was mad to go out for a cast but 24 hours of rain had me thinking it would be a waste of time but the blackwater is a big river can take a day or 2 for it to flood proper so it will be worse today i reckons so headed off last night with not much hope but i was wrong straight away into a nice codling about 3lb got a few more including a very rare coddack, the tide eased so did the bites soon as it started to turn bites came on mad got a few more including a real plumper about 5lb then called it a nite as the rain was getting worse and bait just gone 8)

Nice cod. Well good size. I don't know about nice with the fish in the last two photos looking a bit deformed. I'm surprised the fish in the last photo could even get the bait into his gob with the state of his lower jaw. Fair play for getting out and braving the weather and getting a few fish.

cheers pat think the rain might have driven the fish to the estuary mouth or deeper water i was surprised myself with the activity

hi evan yes theres a fair few deformed fish about also alot of them seem to have sores just past the dorsal fin also the top photo is an example of a cod in brilliant condition found out why he was so plump he had a medium size rockling in its belly 8)

Well done seanie 8) Some real quality codling there. That session of yours just goes to show you that sometimes when you least expect to catch anything that's when you get a nice surprise and you got just that. You must be glad that despite the weather and the conditions that you just went for it with a result like that at the end of the session.

That's it, I'm moving to Cork. The quality of fishing being reported from down there would almost make listening to the "real capital" and "people's republic of cork" baloney bearable. :|
List 2010. fish

List 2011: less fish

2012: less fish again,

2013: even less fish.
