penn o tech
hi all i recently got a penn o tech 16'6 version, was going great and i was well pleased with it until last night. I was casting with 5oz weight and the butt section literally cracked in half in my hands at the part where the oval hole in the blank is. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of his happening and do you think the gaps in the rod weaken it. I am now unsure whether to try get a replacement or a refund, hope someone can give me an opinion thanks lads

Re: penn o tech
Straight back to the Dealer.I'd be through the door on two wheels with it ..make sure it was rated for 5oz firstly, remember you should be covered by the sales of goods act,my point would be that it wasnt "fit for purpose",the downside is you might be handed a replacement.....sorry to say this but ......what were you thinking ! buying an o tech ....good luck

Re: penn o tech
thanks for the replies lads,
got in contact with the person i bought it from, it seems penn has now discontinued them so they are replacing it with a affinity twin tip which i am happy enough with as i have heard good things about them, already have the greys tripplex and cant fault it, but the reason i went with the o tech to begin with was the 2 tips which i found very useful under different conditions, i am just hoping the affinity has a light tip with as good detection as the o tech had.
again thanks for the replies, mick

Re: penn o tech
well i reckon its fairly obvious now why they dont do them anymore, a bit of decent power put into it and it just collapsed in my hands
but fair play to them there not a bit of hassle with changing it. Although in my opinion it should not be still sold to people if it is discontinued
