Co. Clare beach 02-12-10

#1 Post by Sweetwrasse »

People:Corbyeire, Nthclare and myself.

Duration:15.00-19.45

Tide:HT at 14.30

Weather:Cold and Calm. Light North-Westerlies

Bait:Frozen lug and Mackeral

Rigs:Flappers

Results:Corbyeire:3 flounder
Nthclare:2 flounder
Me:2 flounder, 1 shore rockling, 1 coalfish

Report: Was down in Clare for new year so packed up the rods in anticipation of my first west coast session!
Hit the mark at 15.00 and was soon up and fishing. Conditions not great due to the northerly wind and lack of surf but no weed :D No action for first few hours until darkness fell and then Corbyeire was first in with a nice 38 cm flounder quickly followed by Nthclare with a 39 cm flounder. Things were looking up! Had to wait a while longer for my first fish but was rewarded with a small coalfish. Had a few flounder to 31 and 33 cm in quick sucession before things went quiet. Finished with a rockling who gave a good account of himself on lighter gear. Meanwhile Corby and Nthclare had a few more decent flounder in the mid-30s. Thanks to Corbyeire and Nthclare for letting me scrounge bait off them all evening! All-in-all a good start the new year. Happy new year folks :D
It ain't easy but it sure is simple!

Nice to see a report from Clare, I thought everyone had given up fishing here. Well done on the flounders, they have been fairly scarce the last couple of days out here.
The Truth is often stumbled upon by men, most of whom pick themselves up and hurry along as if nothing ever happened.
