EAST CORK 29TH
People: Me, myself and I
Time: 9.30pm to 12.30pm
Tide: coming
Bait: Frozen Peeler
Weather: Heavy Rain some breaks
Rigs: 2 hook flappers
Catch: About 15 cod, 3 whiting, 3 flounder.
With the weather warming up slightly I thought I'd head out for an evening session for just a couple of hours to release some of those fishing demons. Got to mark at 9pm, took a bit of time setting up in the rain but got first rod out and 2nd about 5 mins later. Just as I put the 2nd rod on the tripod the first rod started jumping. Felt pretty decent, wasn't sure what to expect, turned out to be flounder on top hook and whiting on the bottom. I thought "well sure if thats all that turns up i'll be happy with that. Released both quickly although flounder was tricky to unhook.
Wasn't finished baiting up before the other rod was bouncing. Yes! fishing heaven... This turned up a nice codling about 3 pounds! A keeper...Nice! Got 2 More doubles with codling and codling-flounder next casts, then singles all the way to the end of the session at 12.30. Got a surprize last cast, a big surprize! My biggest cod to date! Not great on weight guesstimations but i'd say he was above 5lbs considering the other 2 keepers were about 3lbs. Didn't take pics until I was home because of the rain. Kept 3 sizeable codling returned the rest. Had a great few hours despite the rain. Can't wait to get out again when its a bit milder.

Re: EAST CORK 29TH
Cheers all, might even try for a final final session before the year end but then again might just leave it and finish on a high note since the previous session blanked. When it rains it pours!
