Sorry but still unsure of posting site links, but just after reading on the Eircom Web news that a 70 year old Norweigan angler caught a record breaking Halibut that weighed in at 220kg :shock: :shock: It was seemingly this guys first time ever fishing :shock: It took 135 minutes to land and is valued at $35,000 :? :? bloody first timers :D :D :D

HOLY GOOD F*** thats a big flounder :lol: when it said 8' long it doesnt compare to actually seeing it in a picture!!!

That's some lump of a flattie. I can't imagine the kind of scrap you'd get off it, and on 30lb line :shock: . I wonder what weight of fish does that halibut consume in a day. Must be a huge ammount to grow to that size.

What a fish 8) Brings flattie bashing to a whole new level, but I doubt he got that beast on lug tipped with mackerel on a size 4 kamasan match :mrgreen:

how old would that fish be? its so big it looks unbelievable. But they do grow to be monsters. Imagine catching that from the shore!! id chain myself to the ground :lol:

Unreal, what a fish and what a catch 8) I think it's safe to say that that's one PB that won't be beaten or bettered for quite a long time to come - if ever!
He looks quite shell shocked in the picture and no wonder, so would I be :D

anyone know what are these things around the head and gills? Could it be some smaller fish looking for protection or similar like suckerfish (Remoras) which are commonly found on whales or sharks?

what a flattie unreal on 30lb line and here i am are worried about land in a 10lb bass on 12lb line
great catch best fish i have ever seen must get out the flattie fanatic

my favourite fish, ever! though im quite content in catchin 5oz flounder in the meantime.. :D :?
The Austrian, those are just its fins close to the gill opening - pelvic and pectoral fins im pretty sure
