Wicklow North 06/11/2010

People:Gordy, Eric, Rodger and myself

Duration:6pm till 11pm

Tide:HT at 11pm calm and clear

Weather:Nice and dry for the most part with some showers

Bait:lug, mac, mussel and Gordy had some secret crabs hidden in his box.

Rigs:mixtures

Results:Codling, Coalies, Polloock, whiting and flounder.

Report:Following a week of bad weather and some cancelled fishing trips there was finally a brake. We headed for Greystones in search of some codling and coalies. Our first port of call seen Eric get five whiting and myself a codling, whiting and pollock. Gordy had no fish and was beginning to advocate a location change. Eric was on for this and I discovered a milkshake was a hidden agenda. But talk of a bag of chips had me sold and we headed of the beach.

Beach two was a handy set up and my first cast produced a codling within minutes. Things were looking up! Soon after Eric pulled out a nice flounder and Gordy still had no fish. At this stage of the night Rodger arrived. Now I'm not really superstitious but it was around then that the fishing died a death. None of us could find a fish despite all sorts of cocktails, rigs and patience.

Gordy then broke his duck with a nice coalie of about 40cm and had the biggest round of the night. Thankfully no monies had been discussed before hand! And Rodger had a flounder soon after. No fish were taken in the last hour before the rise so we decided to pack it up. I managed smaller codling on my last cast and a ton of weed too. Rodger stayed on so he may have faired better later into the night.
