cod madness

#1 Post by donal domeney »

People: John Warner and I

Duration: 2 and a half hours

Tide: start of the flood

Weather: westerly breeze

Bait: crab

Rigs: 8)

Results: a major cod bash

Report:
With a few crabs leftover since the weekend we headed to Garryvoe before the weather went downhill, :(

A bit of surface weed around the place as we started but nothing a man would be afraid of.

From the off it was cod after cod total madness as I tried to tend to 2 rods.
I went down to one rod this just about gave me enough time to get a second trace ready before I was retrieving in another cod. 8) 8) 8)

John stayed with the one rod from the start and looked the fresher man after the stint.
:D
Distance wasn’t an object as most of the time a good thump from the rod stand was enough to get the baits into fish.

The heavier weed started to show in the last half hour :x :x :x but the fish kept coming in with it.

Best fish over 50cm and not a fish under 30cm but averaged between 38-44cm :D :D :D

In the end we problem landed over 30 cod for the 2 1/2 hour session,
