a few late reports

#1 Post by saving private brian »

friday 22 oct me and a mate padraic went to a local mark.we had mackerel and lugs with us.it was a gorgeous nite with a full moon.we were casting into a channel and picked up some dogs and the odd small coalie.padraic was happy as its early days for him in this beachcasting game.it was non stop action.also got a flounder that has a cut in him

saturday 23 oct we both headed off again to a mark i have in west mayo.he was very eager to get fishing.beautf=iful moon lit nite again.fished the fulltide then as it fell.got notin for the first 3hrs then wham the fishing struck.picked up a small seatout and small turbo.he pulled in a 38cm flounder.that got our spirits up.from then on we picked some more flounders to that size a long with coalies,.some of the coalies were nearly 40cm.great nites fishing

tuesday 26 0ct.meself and padraic went to enniscrone to meet terry for a few hours.it was only a small session.i had purchased meself a pair of neopreone waders so was dyin to tryin them.there brialliant.we set up and had macks, lugs, sandeels and whitebait for bait.terry brought in first fish.was a 1lb seatrout.then after that we all caught small whitings and coalies.
the nite wasnt cold but there was the odd shower.got meself a chineese on the way home and that was that.sorry had no camera on this session

thursday 28 oct.went to lacken strand for this one meself.there was a comp coming up on the the 31st so i wanted to report this before it but i cudnt due to computer and camera trouble.there was a strong southeast wind and good enof surf to.put 2 rods out.1 out in the deep and one in around the surf with a ball weight.the one out deep was quiet but the one in close was very busy covering ground and pickin up flounders(30-34cm) and small turbot.as nite fell and the tide was filling i picked up some coalies (36cm) along with 1 doggie and small whitings.padraic came and joined me for the last 2hrs.he got coalies

sorry if the pics r all jumbled

It must have been one of the drag nets. Dont think another fish could leave a mark like that. Strange :?

nice session there mate, well done :D
Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.

2010- Sea Trout, Codling, Pollock, Coalie, Whiting, Flounder, Doggies, Plaice, Dab.
