co clare mark 30-10-2010

#1 Post by saving private brian »

people myself,taz and terry

Duration; 00.10am-08.00am

Tide; lw @ midnite so falling till 05.00.(remember clocks went back)

Weather; beautiful nite

Bait; lugs.macks.sandeels,launces,whitebait

Rigs; 2 hook flappers

Result. meself=loads of flounders up tp 33cm and 1 small turbot
terry=loads of flounders to and 1 maybe to 36 cm
lucky taz=flounders up to 36 and 3 schoolies

Report; got a text on friday nite from taz to see if i was up this session.so i quicky made meself available but it was all depending on the weather.saturday came and it was a glourious day so i got all me gear ready for the big trip and i was hoping and praying to catch me first ever bass.i went a dug about 40 lugs at around half 5 and then headed for terrys town to catch my lift as he was driving.while i waited for terry to come get me i went into alocal bar and sipped on a gunness.found meself and the young bar lady havent a decent chat.terry had to ring me twice to get me out but wasnt goin till she put pen to paper and to which she did so i left smiling  picked taz up in galway just before 10 .had a quick coffee and hit the road.got to this venue at around 11.30pm and the town was littering in fancy dressers.we went to the nearest local to sink 3 pints of creamy guinness as we knew we had a long nite ahead.there was fancy dressers every where.from mike myers to bumble bees to the incredible hulk.great to see but i had only interest i 1 thing, went to the beach and had the rods out just after midnite.taz was in first.nice sized flounder, then his other rod went.another 1.taz was in the middle as i was to his right and terry to his left.my first was a double shot of a flounder and a small turbot.my first ever turbot at nite.cudnt believe it.we all just caught steady small flats up till 03.00am that tazs rod was nearly pulled from the tripod.he struck was now a massive bass he was reeling inmeself and terry both left our rods to help taz retrieve this monster but id say no more than 20-30 feet from us the rod went slack.we were all looking at each other in dissapointment.we all chatted to which we think that this bass cud have been from 7-10 lbs.any way we cud do no more think bout it so we got back in to fishing.we had just remember at about 04.00 am to put our clocks back.hshortly after 06.00am first light started to show.at around 07.00am i was down at terrys triopd wen taz was shouting got 1.the smallest ive ever seen but it was nice to see.he pulled in to more then shortly after that .up to 38..i cudnt figure this out how he got them jammed be tween us too.we all had same baits etc.ur poxed with luck taz  .any way was great to see a few.all fish that we caught were let go back to there families and hopefully will be caught again wen there up to 10-12 lbs in years to come to give some angler a great sport.i was a wee bit disapointed i didnt catch a small 1 but hey theres always next time isint there.thanks to taz and terry to for great company.we had such alaff on the beach.it was better than a tommy tiernan show.thats wats its all about

Well done lads, a nice mixed bag there, great session..

Good Report and photos Brian and I bet a couple of pints of the black stuff kept ye warm...
The West coast has really turned on over the last weeks and great to see all the Bass Reports, with alot of fine flounder and Turbot being caught as well. Can only be a good sign of things to come.

The Allusive Westie Bass will come in time, as I and others know all to well 8) , but it worth the wait.... :D
