Nice Flounder Aido !. I have fished Castlegregory dozens of times since 1988 and it has changed for the worse dramatically in the last couple of years. In the 90's apart from the dogs the main species I encountered were Thornbacks , with the very odd Painted ray. Around 2003 more Painted ray were showing until around 2005 where a Thornback was a rarity and to catch 5 or 6 Painted ray in a session was not unusual. Then two years ago the rays seemed to have dissapeared altogether , and this year I fished it in June and September a few times and again no Rays swhatsoever only dogs , Flounder and a Bass. It is though a good venue and I have not given up on it yet as it always has the potential to throw up a good fish , a friend had a Monkfish here 50lb+ years ago and I have had a couple of good Bass 11lb and 8lb.

nice flounder there, I was in that area as well there and I was tortured with doggies aswell, I had heard reports of a few painted ray being caught but I never had any.
Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.

2010- Sea Trout, Codling, Pollock, Coalie, Whiting, Flounder, Doggies, Plaice, Dab.
