south wexford 30.10.10

#1 Post by mitch »

people me/ millbrooke /billy

tide rising and 2 hrs drop

bait lug/crab/razor

rigs 2 h flappers /pully's

result codling to 48cm/coalies to 45 and flounders to 38cm

weather was foul ,wind was s/east and driving rain but the sea
was perfect, nice and choppy with plenty of movement ,2 rods each
baited up and sent out ,we all had fish from the off coalies and flounder were first to show ,it wasn't all plain sailing there was weed around and it was catching the shock leader knots and it was like
twine and took a bit to clear but the main thing was the buisness end was clear.

fishing was steady all through the tide which was great as this is a new mark for us, we fished it last week on a total different tide and had great fishing as well so this place will be put on our club comp list for next year

we fished from 10.30 to 4 am and thats taking the hour off  so i can tell ya i was knackered but it was worth it millbrooke lost what looked like a bass in the surf and it was a big fish looked about 7 or 8 lb fish he was gutted ,have to say i was very suprised there were no other bass or schoolies around but you cant have it everyway ,it was a great nights fishing and i will be heading down again soon

tight lines gerry

thanks shane ,there is nothing worse than loosing a fish like
that ,and on those beaches it happens a fair bit ,there so steep
that any sort of backwash it rips everythink big or small of the hook
