Thinking of a new rod..suggestions

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

the dawia sandstorm is a thumper of a rod and you wont go wrong with it, but i went for a salt mx 13' near enough 14' with reducer attached, purely because it is a bit slimmer in build that the sandstorm, i pair it with an abu 6500, but if the ground is mixed or rough i use a sl20 with it and cant fault it, i've used this set up on clean and rough ground with no problems. even low the salt is not a very expensive rod i think they are very underestimated, i find them excellent quality for the price range there are in.

Unless your fishing realy realy rough ground id stay away from the sl 30. Somthing like an abu 6500 or daiwa 7ht for clean ground, and Id suggest the daiwa sl 20 or penn 525 if the ground is rough.

cheers for the replies lad,the sandstorm package actually comes with a dawia 7ht or sl30 so you lads reckon no need for sl30?usually fish the beaches all along the east coast which arnt really snaggy, but sometimes head out to the odd rock mark which is pretty rough

Go with the 7HT and load with .35 line ( 15lb) quality reel and will cover most of your needs.

I do fairly similar fishing as you as for the rod there are so many to choose from I recently bought a penn powerstix for herself its a good rod. The reel, well I've had a Penn 525 for years now and it is a great reel for your type of locations, I've never found foudn fault with it. Good luck.
