13ft beachcaster? Shakespeare salt v Penn Powerstix

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

I need a 3pce 13ft rod after a look around i have narrowed down to a Shakespeare Salt long Surf 4-8oz £56,and a Penn Powerstix Pro Surf 4-6oz £80. Does anyone have any of these rods and how do you rate them? any help much appreciated.

I used zziplex as a boy and then onto century. Now I have gone the anyfish anywhere range of rods and found them the dogs boll-x but I Bough my daughter the Penn powerstix after i I had a shot of one and right now I am after another for her, so she can fish a twin rod.
I have also looked at the salt range, and can't fault them at all for the cash you pay.

Have the 13ft powerstix and love it. Nice whip off it when casting.

PENN IS A FANTASTIC ROD FOR THE MONEY WITH QUALITY FITTINGS AND EASY TO TRANSPORT BEING 3 PIECE. CASTS BETTER WITH SLIGHTLY LIGHTER LEADS THAN THE RATING. YOU CAN'T GO TOO FAR WRONG THERE.

Yep looks like you have made a good choice, if you get the deal! I recently bought a penn powerstix 13ft for my wife and I have to say its a great rod. Its being used with a fixed spool reel and she is enjoying her fishing :)
