good to see it frantic like that! sea trout a nice bonus, do you have to tag them to keep them from the sea as well??

no need to tag them if yer taking them home. . . .what i do know is that sea trout were tagged in wales, and once they left the rivers, they swam up and down the welsh coast the headed straight for strangford lough as that is their feeding ground.

sorry to put a bummer on this carp angler, northern ireland you have to have a game licence to fish for seatrout, they have to be gill tagged to take any home. the licence costs this year £17 the season starts 1st march ends 31st of this month. any fish caught & retained have to be entered into the log book you get 10 gill tags with the licence, if you need anymore tags the tackle shop you get your licence from supplies you with more. also you have to put where you caught the sea trout & date into the log book they also ask did you keep the fish or sell it this applies to trout caught in the sea obviously you do not need a rod licene for fishing for them in the sea.finaly you must send the log book & any gill tags left back to fisheries conservancy board for N.I freepost.
well done that was a good session.

i havent bought a game liscence in more years than i can remember. . .never had a great deal of lucj fishing in rivers, so game fishing went out the window. . .i guess the best thing is to catch it and say nothing when its in the sea lol

mind you, game liscence will be got next year when i get my son out fishing for the trout

yeah, i wasnt just 100% sure but as has been said any salmon or sea trout that are kept should be tagged through the mouth/gills and logged.
think its a damn hefty fine if you are caught in possession without this, at all the price of the game license its definately worth getting every year if you do plan to keep any sea trout that you may catch.

Doggydave and me are going to fish a rock mark on sunday, near portstuart in the daylight hours. but its too dodgy to fish in the dark. So we're going to do a night session, into the next morning on the beach at portstuart. Never fished the beach before, is it any good, or would portrush be better?

all depends on what ya wanna fish for billy, if yer nite fishing, i'd suggest the beach for safety. ya get washed off the rocks up there, or ya slip and fall in the dark, and yer in serious trouble!!!
