north wicklow, 14/10/10

#1 Post by corbyeire »

People: myself + sweetwrasse

Duration: 5.30 - 9.30

Tide: low at 11pm ish, not high as i read it!

Weather: cold first 2 hours, then mild

Bait: refrozen, lug rag mac sandeel

Rigs: 2,3 hook flappers, pulley

Results: sweetwrasse, 5 flounder, myself 1 schoolie, 2 dogs, 4 flounder

Report: had told sweetwrasse on many an occasion that 10 fish was about an average on an east coast bash - and to this point after about 3/4 recent sessions - the blanks were making a fool of me

decided we werent going to invest in fresh bait for crab feeding - just accept we wanted a few hours in the fresh air - catch a micro whiting and be done with it

2nd cast my manky lug took a schoolie - had him on light spinning rod - was some craic all 30cm of him

then all quiet

then as dusk approached - i got a counting flounder in the 20s - then SW got one - then another - then i got a double - then i got a single

then SW got another - it seemed like we were into action for the night!!!

SW took another 2 over the next 2 hours - i was missing bites on my other rod - but started paying it more attention and brought in 2 single dogs - probably missed way more

a lad down to our right - had a fair few dogs as i was looking that way

all in all a satisfactory session with v little effort!

:D

Nice going Brian, another Bass even though a schoolie is still a result in my book.
On Light gear would be some crack alright.
Well done...must get out soon myself.

  Yes I may steer clear for a while, It's always good to broaden the horizons!
It also made some room for food in my freezer

Now to get that elusive first bass, a schoolie would do me nicely!
It ain't easy but it sure is simple!
