Donaghadee 12th October

#1 Post by rdoggart »

People:Just Me

Duration: 9am - 3pm

Tide: Low to Full

Weather:Brilliant

Bait:Rag, Lug and Mackerel

Rigs: Float and 2up 1 down

Results: Wrasse, Coalie, Pollock and Poor Cod

Report: Got up and looked out the windows an thought bugger this I am going fishing. Went and dug some bait at Holywood and then hit the Dee. It was a beautiful day and the fishing was constant all day. Nothing of any great size but a constant stream. Did lose one good fish off the back wall, it had hit the bait several times and I decided to hold the rod on the next cast, it hit hard and made a mad dash to the weed on the left with the line cutting through the water, I tried to turn it and the line went slack, pulled in the trace and the hook had straightened. Now I know why a lot of guys make up there own rigs.

However it was a really nice day, and there was enough fish about to keep me entertained.

Well done Ronnie! There's a couple of monsters lurking about there at the minute!
I was in the Dee this morning, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't have bait dug for my day off! :(

Same thing happened to me this time last year. Something big hit my bait as it was dropping through the water. It headed for the islands and then weeded me after running about 30 yards!

Hi mate, i fished the dee pier on monday. Tried the float, no joy... tried bottom crabs. Fished from about 9.30 am to about 1.30 pm. I must be fishing this place wrong! But the weather was brilliant, and met and chatted to some nice people along the way, so i enjoyed the day. I had the end of the pier to myself as far as fishing is conserned but not a bite.. back to the drawing board. :(
