Trawlers in Dublin Bay
Just an observation i made today while fishing Poolbeg was there for 4 5 hours and I noticed this trawler in the bay in and out of sandymount strand all day trawling.. My question is are they allowed trawl in the bay 1 and 2 If not how the hell do they get away with it and is there a process to go through to reporting them if there not allowed to trawl... Ive no idea on where trawlers are allowed fish hence the question.... thanks in advance for any replies.....

In general commercial fishing boats can go right up to the shore.
Although there are some exceptions.
If you want to read more about it check out the SFPA website.

I agree there should be an certain exclusion zone I dont know a couple of miles right around the whole Irish coastline, the government bodies can do it to Inland resources why not the coast line.Absolutely no commercial fishing within this exclusion zone end of..... I doubt very much this would ever happen
