Report:Decided to give a North Dublin Beach a bash last night. I had only fished it one or two times before with little success, so hopes weren't too high, even though there was a lovely surf coming in. 5 mins into my first cast and the rod doubled over, Fish put up a nice fight and didn't want to come in, after a few minutes I got a nice Bass under my feet, easily 6/7 pound. Just at the last second I felt everything go slack and the fish was gone
Gar was next with a nice solid bite, but his reel got caught in the bucket hanging from the tripod and by the time he wound this fish was also gone. After that we started to catch a few Flounder and the odd schoolie ranging from 1lb to 3lb. About an hour into the session I cast out my flapper and legged it to my car to get my phone, Just when I was back on the beach I saw Gar grab his Rod and start reeling, Nice one..I thought..on closer inspection I realised it was my rod and he had just landed a nice fish of about 5lb..nice time to get my phone,I was only gone about 3 mins
We caught a few more schoolies and were getting doubles of flounder right until high water, we missed more bites than we had fish, we called it a day as there was no bait or beach left. Good to see a Dublin beach producing the goods saves on petrol too
I didn't bring the camera cause I didn't think there would be much point but Gar has one or two photos on his phone that I will get him to send to me.
