#1 Post by jw »

People: jw

Duration: 0930-1900

Tide: neap

Weather: F5 S/W

Bait: mackerel

Rigs: wire

Results: a conger and a few doggies

Report: the forecast was looking breezy for this one, in the end
we did get out five miles and set up a shark drift for half the day,
no runs. there are still large shoals of mackerel near the limeburner,
the water temp is falling quickly now

we tried tried fishing at a skate mark, the anchor was not holding in the
swell so we ended up conger fishing at a well known wreck

the 43' aquastar can do 12 knots heading into the swell, slowing down
for the odd big sea, she throws up a bit of spray all right. didnt get to
try a following sea :-)

Lumpy old day out there, pics usually make it look better as well! I see how those unhooking sticks work now, must try that method.

yes sean, those unhooking sticks are highly effective, just by rotating
it you can easily get the hook out of a deep hooked conger (or shark)
