donaghadee/copeland islands 26/09/10

#1 Post by jammiedodger55 »

People:me and 2 others

Duration:3 hours

Weather:sunny

Rigs:feathers

Report:decided to go out fishing this morning because the weather was nice. tried everywhere for the first 2 and a half hours and had no luck at all. we decided we would just fish the bay on the dee side and drifted down past the rocks when i hit my first fish. i am not 100% sure what they are but i think they are whiting? all in all it turned out to be a good day but all quite small

no bother the best way to tell them apart i think is the pollack has a bigger bottom lip than the top lip and a coal fish has a siliver line down its side and the mouth is the same size top and bottom.

the best way to tell the difference it coalfish have a straight lateral line and pollock have a distinctive kink in theirs

Yip Coalies and Pollack! Great result in the end!

I often wonder if anchoring up and fishing a running ledger at the back of the Copelands, or in any of those bays, would pay dividends, in optimistic cloud 9 it is bound too!
