Lenan pier Donegal 25-9-10

#1 Post by fishermannum1 »

People me and tom, later cathald from the site landed down

Duration ten hours for me and tom, cathald was still fishing when we left

Tide rise/drop/rise

Weather good

Bait mac/squid/lug

Rigs pully/three & two hook flapers

Results tub gurnard,doggie,thornies,coalies,pollock.flounder

Report me and tom got the gear set up and started fishing about 7ish, high tide was after eight so we got a bit of fishing on the flood, a few coalies were got but no real size to them. then tom landed a nice sized doggie, things started to go a bit quiet as the tide began to drop with just an odd bite now and then. but we kept banging the baits out, changing them every 10 to 15 minutes to keep them fresh. later in the day cathald from the site landed down with his nephew, he got the young lad rigged up with a float, and the lad was soon pulling in the puckers :D cathald got his own gear sorted and was soon into the fishing, the fishing was still a bit slow but we were getting the odd take, and cathald soon had a few fish on the pier. i changed my rig over to a pully to try a bit further out, worked out ok for i ended up landing two thornies but they were on the small side. still it was fishing very slow with the odd bite, then a few other people started to land, and the "idiot" also landed down ( anyone that fished lenan will know who i'm on about ) we had the front of the pier covered, but as usual, this guys usual stunt, he stepped right in the middle of us and began casting. and every second word was f**k'n or b*****d's. dont know how many times he cast over toms line   tom was not amused and i could see it. if it had been early in the day things would have been differant, but as it was we were ready to pack up anyway, so we never bothered with him. so packed the gear away and and said our goodbyes to cathald, and headed for home, after ten hours fishing we were ready for our grub  as usual the crack and banter was ninety, a very enjoyable day out.

As you said Don it was a champion day. We all got a few fish and the jokes and the banter made up for it when it went quiet for a while. As for the " idiot " he really annoyed me with his language and his bad manners and aggresive manner. Had it been earlier in the day the scissors would have come out and his line would have been cut. He would have got the message then loud and clear.
Ya should a been here last week.

nice session mate
Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.

2010- Sea Trout, Codling, Pollock, Coalie, Whiting, Flounder, Doggies, Plaice, Dab.
