I'm finally and thanks to those that made a few suggestions a couple of months back. Couldn't resist a look at the north coast to start with, fantastic place to be. After a bit of a drive and managing to find a few lug I ended up near Portrush and couldn't resist the place.
Must have got set up about 730 in constant rain, which seems about normal round here. One in close and one a fair distance. All quiet for the first hour or two and then a few whiting showed up. Great, I can get them 3 a chuck back home! Then I had a little twitch on the close rod, which I left. Seconds later the 'twitch' tried to pull the rod into the water. The culprit fought much better than a bass about 3.5lb but I'm not complaining, lovely fish it was and with the sea fairly calm I could watch her dart off after a touch of dentistry.
Nothing else of note in the night, packed up about 1100 having had 4 or 5 whiting, a small flounder, 2doggies and the bass. All in all can't complain fir a first session here. Think I'm going to have fun!

Thanks everyone. Great to get out and even nicer to get a few. Had a little gander around Donegal yesterday and I'll be spending some time there too I think. Thus afternoon it's Down to try and find a few marks there.
