great days fishing at portstewart on sunday

#1 Post by doggy dave »

i have been stuggling to catch anything other than doggies since i took up shore fishing , so i went into my last fishing trip hopeful more than anything else, 6.30 am just getting light tide on its way out , first cast only out a few minutes and BANG yipee i said to myself but as i was bringing it in i felt that familiar dead weight twisting fish feeling and low and behold another doggy, an hour went by with nibbles and a few lost rigs then every cast on both rods was throwing up coleys , lost count how many, my bait was running out so i switched to spinning for a while , first throw i got a mackerel , next cast another mackerel, but lost it dragging it upm the rocks, i was expecting loads more mackerel but nothing just the 1 banked, so chopped him up and used it for bait, a few more coleys and on my last strip of mackerel before heading home to watch utd play relegation battling liverpool i got a good doggy, although they are a pain yhis one was different to any other doggy i had ever caught it was sandy colour with black spots and was nowhere near as ugly as usual. 4 species in one day was awsome for me and i am now well and truly hooked to sea fishing

nice wee session Dave, if the doggies are about they will be on your bait like a shot, but nice to see you got plenty of fun with the coalies.
