are we throwing back the best bait?

was talking to a friend of my dads( old fisherman)he told me that he used to cut up pieces of doggies for ray and tope he reckons it outfishes fresh macks any thoughts?

ive heard that doggies are good for ray alright but never knew it was good for tope.ah well u learn something new everyday :mrgreen: .dabs r brilliant for tope

They use them in the Clew Bay Skate festival, certainly lots of blood in them, I wouldn't start keeping them for bait though and they reek of amonia.
2010 - Whiting, Dogfish, 3 bearded Rockling, Shore Rockling, Pollock, Dab, Plaice, Launce, Sea Scorpion, Goby, Gunnel, Codling, Red Cod, Smooth Hound, Ballan Wrasse, Corkwing Wrasse

have to give them a shot id say they would stay on the hook a lot better also

agree with everyone i was fishing in westport with WHITE SEA HORSE cant remember skippers name we fished for dogs and huss he also menthioned that dogs are good bait for big skate in september
